How Do You Know if Your Home Is Correctly Insured?

Are you certain your home has the correct amount of coverage? Take this quick quiz to determine if your correct, of if you need additional coverage.
1. Did you use the market value, assessed value or the amount of your mortgage to determine the amount to insure your home for?
2. Have you make additions or improvements to your home since it was first purchased and failed to increase the coverage on your policy to keep pace?
3. Does your home have unique architectural details or building materials that would make accurately calculating the replacement cost difficult to simply estimate?
4. Has is been more than five years since an insurance appraisal (not a market value appraisal) was done?
5. Do you have special items that are excluded or limited under most policies?

7. Most policies provide a limit of 10% for "appurtenant structures," (structures not attached to your home) however, that's not enough for everyone and a special endorsement is required to increase coverage. Does this apply to you?
